I still have that same inverter that runs and has run every day since I recieved it. We have since had more hurricanes (Wilma) when I was out of grid power for 18 days, and this puppy saved me probably 500/700 dallars in fuel. I am so impressed that I RECOMMENDED this beast to a friend of mine which did not hesitate to buy one. Needless to say that he is as inpressed as I am and went out and bought himself a solarsystem to feed the battries. Great product.");

When I first got it I put it in my work truck, A 1 ton Ford power stroke, It fried the altinator within the first week. I replaced the altinater with a $700.00 heavy duty one. Then the only problem was dead bateries Monday morning if I forgot to turn it off Fiday night. I\'ve ran every thing with this, wire feed welders, air compressers, concrete core drills, you name it, we\'ve tried it. We used it every work day, It has replaced generators for us. As long as I have to drive for 20 minuts or better to get to work, and I start my truck when I am using it hard, it\'s trouble free power. I orderd a new one to replace the one we smoked, I\'m excited to see what happens when I send the old one in. I have a natural talent for finding the weak points in equipment, It\'s taken me almost 2 years to fry this one. I was told that a plastic bag was blocking the cooling fan while it was runing an air compresser when we smoked it. I have no complaints we keep it closed up in a tool ben on a utility truck with plugins on the outside of the truck. The only time we ever saw it was to turn it off or on. I had to use a gas generator for the first time in 2 years yesterday, thats not going to happen very many more times.");

We dried out the unit and cleaned the oily residue. We applied 24 volt power and the unit operates great. The towboat is back in service too.");

I am runing it off a 540ah battery bank charging with 170 watts of solar and an airx 400 w wind turbine The inverter draws .5 amp dc when turned on and not being used just as advertised even if left on 24 hr a day it is only has 12 amps draw (150 wats) for the 24 hr frame

I have large battery bank for plenty of amps to power it with, I have ran my lathe and milling machine on this inverter fine. If you have a use for something this big it is the best priced largest inverter for the money. AIMS has a great line of inverters at low cost we can afford. My 5k inverter is well used and over a year old at least, never a problem. Run a whole house on it.
Any inverter is only as powerful and the battery that provides power to it. You can connect this inverter to a large battery bank and power nearly anything, or a single battery for a small load. I have used an electric chain saw in the woods on this inverter with only one battery. Lots of batteries for a whole house.
Reviews on products from people that don\'t own them or use them are stupid, serve no point, should be removed. It screws up the rating system!");

The meter is claiming it uses about 1/2 an Amp (at 24V). That would be 12Amp Hours per day if I left it on all the time. Not huge, but more than I expected (about the same has having a couple of my energy efficient DC fluorescent lights on all the time). Still a great inverter, but I reduced my rating from 5 to 4.");

I run my chop saw, circular saw, jig saw, palm sander, compressor, and router (sometime 2 appliances at once) and have had no problems. I’m very impressed. The fans rarely come on (when the outside temp is in the 80s and 90s. I leave it turned off when I\'m not using it, so I can\'t speak to the power it uses just sitting there. It\'s hooked to 2 Lifeline 4DL batteries.");

Just received My 5000W Inverter and monster GPL-8DL battery (both arrived at the same time, amazing) Hooked the battery to it with the supplied cables in 5 minutes and plugged in a Porter Cable 1.6HP/3.5HP Peak air compressor and it took off like a shot! It sometimes takes me several tries in customers outlets to find a circuit strong enough to handle it. One happy camper here!");

It does appear to take 1KWh of electricity per day for just the inverter when left on continously, so factor that in when sizing up your solar/wind power system.");
