It turns my Toyota Prius hybrid into an *extremely* efficient generator to power my house (refrigerator, TV, computer, selected lights) in case of a power outage or disaster (most likely an earthquake, since I\'m in Seattle). The Prius automatically turns its internal combustion engine on/off as needed to keep the main (275v) battery charged. This in turn keeps the 12v auxilliary battery charged. And the 12v battery runs the inverter. I can power my house for weeks on a (10 gallon) tank of gas.");
